Shambling man

On his self-titled debut, Brooklyn's Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson positions himself as a shambling folk hero for urban hipsters worldwide. Robinson plays gruff, disaffected anthems on acoustic guitar while his pals from TV on the Radio add noisy tension on the fringes. Live, Robinson and band ditch the futuristic production and run the songs through a '90s slacker-rock filter. It's easy to imagine Robinson's shows as hit-or-miss propositions - sometimes brilliant, sometimes bad. Hopefully he'll be on his game next Thursday when he comes to The Summit with fellow futuristic folkies Castanets.
