Many "next big things" have been thrust upon these great United States by those former oppressors in Great Britain, so there was nothing wrong with doling out healthy amounts of skepticism to Arctic Monkeys upon their 2006 media deluge. But even as the following year's Favourite Worst Nightmare showed the band had no shelf life in America, it also proved these kids deserved a little slack. Now they return to the Newport to hawk third album Humbug, a record so mellowed and matured from the days of "I Bet You Look Good on the Dance Floor" that you'll wonder if the Monkeys have gone the chopped and screwed route.
