Marquee: She Bears at the Treehouse

Thanks to enduring townie tradition, Athens is best known for bluesy hippie music, acoustic singer-songwriter stuff and balls-out garage punk. Still, there's always a steady stream of undergrads making literate, melodic indie rock. Lately that's been up to She Bears, whose "I Found Myself Asleep" plays like a clean-cut descendant of Neutral Milk Hotel and Modest Mouse. No mold-busting revelations here, but plenty of solid songs with splendorous arrangements that make full use of that six-piece lineup.
