Girls with Dum Dum Girls at the Wexner Center

As if the xx/jj tour wasn't clever enough, the next night Wexner welcomes buzz bands Girls and Dum Dum Girls.

Girls is a (dudes-only) San Francisco power-pop combo that nods to Elvis Costello and The Lemonheads and bathes its lovelorn tales in California sunshine. Debut "Album" is straightforward to suggest the death of irony; its pop pleasures are tough to deny.

The Dum Dums, meanwhile, are Vivian Girls' West Coast equivalent. That means rather than donning trendy-frumpy Brooklyn hipster attire, they play their droning-yet-dynamic blend of shoegaze, garage rock and girl-group pop in retro makeup and wardrobe befitting their Hollywood roots. Their self-described "blissed-out buzzsaw" bowled me over at South by Southwest last month.

When: 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 6

Where: Wexner Center for the Arts, Campus
