High on Fire at Skully's

Few bands have mastered metal's essentials like High on Fire. On the new "Snakes for the Divine," Matt Pike's post-Sleep battalion offers a master class in brutally chugging low-end, throat-searing growls and just when to let laser-light lead parts cut through the muck.

As usual, the metal stars will bring a brigade of the genre's heavy hitters to their Skully's tour stop Saturday. Show up early to watch Priestess, Black Cobra and Bison B.C. hesh with the best.
