Weezer at the Ohio State Fair

Anyone who heard "Represent," Weezer's World Cup fight song, knows (a) Rivers Cuomo is still a master of the pop hook and (b) his lyrics have sunken to new lows of irredeemably stupidity. Then again, a quick listen to any Weezer album in the post-"Pinkerton" era could have clued you in.

Yet Weezer's old-school acolytes keep coming back for more punishment, hoping to behold a rousing return to form from the band whose first two records are some of alt-rock's most enduring treasures. The latest chance to get masochistic comes Saturday at the fair, where they'll share the stage with Motion City Soundtrack.
