Staff Pick: This Might Be It at Skylab

Staff Writer
Columbus Alive

Four artists who have moved on from Columbus and one more who plans to uproot soon will return to Skylab, the creative hub that nurtured them, for what might be their last hometown exhibit. Show up New Year's Day for works by John Malta, John Also Bennett, Jon Stommel, Grant LaValley and Dan Olsen. It's a seriously stacked lineup of creative minds whose departure leaves this city all the poorer.

"This Might Be It" is also a mistimed celebration of the last New Year's Day on the Mayan calendar (that's next year, duders) and a venue for improvised music by the likes of Peter J. Woods, Instinct Control, Jason Soliday, Seabat, When the Dust Settles and the Ryan Jewell/Ben Bennett duo. Malta promises "completely unique" performances that "deal with time, the lack thereof, the future, the past, and the fleeting now."
