Hayseed Dixie at Park Street Tavern

Ripping a song from its original context and giving it a genre-specific makeover is a time-honored pop-culture tradition. It can be loathsome, but in the right hands it's funny or even revelatory.

Nashville's Hayseed Dixie falls somewhere in between. They've made a pretty living converting classic rock tunes from "Bohemian Rhapsody" to "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" into bluegrass curiosities. And while the gimmick doesn't take long to get stale, they've got the chops and charm to keep listeners around after the novelty wears off.
