Portland folk-rockers The Builders and the Butchers have a fine-sounding new LP called "Dead Reckoning," but just for kicks last winter they returned to their roots in the raw art of street performance. The one-day "busking tour" featured hourly performances around their hometown.

Diehard fans of Portland compatriots The Decemberists will probably be into this crew too, unless they think the B&Bs are taking an unrighteous ride on Colin Meloy's coattails - and yes, Meloy is one of the few people for whom that "coattails" saying could be taken literally.
