Staff Pick: Bassnectar at the LC
Though looking like Cousin It and remixing hits beyond recognition, Bassnectar has thrilled crowds from Burning Man to Bonnaroo with a genre-jumping brand of dubstep. His ritualistic bass and methodic melodies have won over hippies, hipsters and hip-hop heads, an eclectic audience that has made him one of America's most popular touring DJs.
If you're wondering what all the fuss is about, download "Wildstyle," his second of two fantastic albums released last year. Around dubstep's familiar wobble bass and pacing shifts, you'll find ethereal electronic layers that on stage are broadcast alongside amazing visual effects.
Los Angeles electro mixer Eliot Lipp opens.
