Cage the Elephant & Manchester Orchestra at the LC

"Ain't No Rest for the Wicked" was a mighty aggravating post-White Stripes pastiche, so it's a pleasant surprise to queue up Cage the Elephant's sophomore LP "Thank You, Happy Birthday" and find it stocked with alt-rock choruses that are just as infectious, but in a positive way. Foremost among them is the "Aberdeen," a single that rides its rocket-launch melody all the way to Valhalla.

Joining the Kentuckians-turned-Britons at the LC on Wednesday will be Manchester Orchestra, a suburban Atlanta outfit that applies the faintest Southern swagger to its emotional outbursts and symphonic guitar blasts. Their latest album, "Simple Math," hit shelves this week.
