The Devil Makes Three at Woodlands Tavern

The Devil Makes Three's old-timey acoustic tunes don't sound all that punk to my ears, so I can only assume they picked up that reputation by being irreverent with ragtime, rockabilly and the other ancient genres they faithfully pillage. Not many traditional Americana acts have lyrics like "Our drummer couldn't figure out whether he was straight or he was gay."

This Santa Cruz, California trio actually doesn't include a drummer, just guitar, stand-up bass and an array of other stringed instruments. All the better for hearing the harmonized hooks that will be echoing through Woodlands Tavern on Monday.
