Beast in the Field at Ravari Room

When Michigan duo Beast in the Field began thrashing through Columbus circa 2009, they were touted as the loudest band in metal. And indeed, when your guitarist's six amplifiers come close to drowning out the drums, your band at least deserves to be included in that discussion.

Whipping up such sounds with only two members is notable. What's really impressive about this band is not their sheer volume but the way they deploy it in spurts to give their trancelike repetition maximum impact.

They'll be a tough act to follow for The Black Dahlia Murder, who headlines Wednesday's show at Ravari Room.
