Preview: The Rapture at Park Street Patio
How awesome would it have been if Harold Camping's erroneous May 21 end times prediction had been a huge PR stunt heralding the return of Brooklyn dance-punk hype fiends The Rapture? Alas, the band's comeback album "In the Grace of Your Love" arrived a few months too late for that.
On the plus side, the album rules. This is exactly how The Rapture should sound a decade removed from the hype storm that accompanied the screaming disco burner "House of Jealous Lovers." Luke Jenner is a family man now, and his experience has yielded an album more thoughtful and less explosive than anything they've done before without sacrificing the fierce grooves at The Rapture's core.
Why such a hipster-friendly band is playing the not so hipster-friendly Park Street Patio is a bit of a head scratcher, but that's where they'll be for Tuesday's $5 show.
