Preview: Jamey Johnson at The Bluestone
Chris DeVille, Columbus Alive
Anybody who watched this year's CMAs knows country music needs an honest-to-God badass now more than ever, somebody to banish those sparkly pants and Kim Kardashian parody songs with one swing of the steel-toed boot.
Jamey Johnson doesn't have to front - dude was in the Marine Corps Reserve for eight years, and he writes songs with the same gritty sense of duty, a balladeer marked by sadness that runs as deep as his thick twang. Despite his intense vulnerability, you get the sense that he's not a man to be crossed. He speaks somberly but carries a big stick.
Cliff Cody joins Johnson for Thursday's show at The Bluestone.
