Preview: The Winter Sounds at Kobo

Chris DeVille, Columbus Alive

Take it from these shivering fingers: If ever there was a time to check out a band called The Winter Sounds, it's now. But do they really sound like winter? Yes, because keyboards-and-beats-infused bleeding heart anthems in the key of Mumford conjure warm refuge from icy roads and bleak skies.

You'll probably have to trudge through that sort of muck to warm your hands by the proverbial high-tech hearth that is Winter Sounds' performance Wednesday at Kobo. But considering the anthemic scope and broad appeal of their new EP, "L'été des Trois Michel?(?l?)?es," many will be happy to make the pilgrimage.
