Staff Pick: The Avett Brothers at the LC Pavilion

Most people remember The Avett Brothers teaming up with Mumford & Sons and Bob Dylan for a rendition of “Maggie’s Farm” at the 2011 Grammys. But what made an impression on me that night was their intimate, yet powerful performance of “Head Full of Doubt, Road Full of Promises” — even though it’s a song I’d heard dozens of times before, just never live. (Oh, and I think Bob Dylan might be the most important songwriter of the last century.)

The Avett Brothers haven’t had a new album since 2009’s critically acclaimed “I and Love and You,” but that doesn’t mean you should miss out on one of the best live acts currently working. A mix of folk, rock and relentless exuberance by the band will surely make this one of the best outdoor shows of the summer.
