Jams of the Week: Lil Wayne teams with Big Sean, tUnE-yArDs teams with ?uestlove, Childish Gambino teams with Beck, Beck teams with Jack White

Quite a few jams this week from artists who'll be stopping through Columbus soon, plus some seriously fun rap songs, plus a couple of older recordings recently released from the vaults, plus mac collaborations, plus more goodness. Let's get it! (NOTE: Due to the absence of Jams of the Week last week, this week we present a plus-sized jams selection - 15 instead of 10.)

Lil Wayne featuring Big Sean - "My Homies Still"

Pretty strange to hear Wayne collaborating with one of Kanye's stooges after all this G.O.O.D. vs. YMCMB fueding lately. I'm glad they did; this song is pure mindless summer fun.

tUnE-yArDs, Angelique Kidjo, Ahmir "?uestlove" Thompson & Akua Naru - "Lady" (Fela Kuti cover)

On a more serious note, this Fela Kuti cover, produced by tUnE-yArDs' Merrill Garbus, supports (RED) RUSH TO ZERO, a program geared toward eliminating AIDS by preventing the spread of HIV from mothers to children. tUnE-yArDs brings their frenetic live show to the Wexner Center on June 11.

Childish Gambino featuring Beck - "Silk Pillow"

Donald Glover actually got Beck to rock a sleep-dazed rap verse like it's "Midnite Vultures" or something.

Beck featuring Jack White - "I Just Started Hating Some People Today"

Beck and Jack White is just the kind of combination to get rock critics drooling, and this ranger roamer-turned harcore track-turned steamy soundtrack anthem validates the salivating.

John Frusciante - "Glowe"

Red Hot Chili Peppers will be in Columbus this Monday, but John Frusciante won't be with them. Instead, he's back to focusing fully on solo projects like the alluring "Glowe," part of the "Letur-Lefr" EP coming July 27 in advance of September's full-length.

Southeast Engine - "Old Oak Tree"

These super-reliable Athens folk-rockers have a new EP coming out, and they're playing the Megacity Music Marathon at Woodlands Tavern this Saturday, June 9.

Ty Segall Band - "I Bought My Eyes"

I have yet to buy into the hype around prolific San Francisco psych-monger Segall, but this track (from one of three albums he's releasing this year) is downright delightful garage pop revelry.

King Tuff - "Anthem"

Speaking of garage pop revelry... King Tuff is Kyle Thomas, who has played with J Mascis in the stoner rock band Witch as well as the freak-folk combo Feathers. Here he tries on glam rock, and it fits. Stream his entire Sub Pop debut at SoundCloud.

Friends - "Home"

Pure polyrhythmic party music from one of Brooklyn's buzziest. The band's debut "Manifest!" is out this Tuesday on Fat Possum.

Laetitia Sadler - "Find Me the Pulse of the Universe"

To paraphrase Tim McGraw, it doesn't get any more European than this. The Stereolab singer has a new album called "Silencio!" coming July 24 on Drag City.

Big Boi & Theophilus London featuring Tre Luce - "She Said OK"

This is pretty self-explanatory, even more so once it gets going. Again, stupid fun, but this time from guys you might expect to deliver something smarter.

Micachu & the Shapes - "OK"

British kitchen sink quirkmaster Micachu was responsible for one of 2009's sickest collections of music, "Jewellery." Her next offering, "Never," is coming July 23 on Rough Trade.

Dan Deacon - "Lots"

The zany electronic Kyle Sowash lookalike is back in action with a new album, "America," coming August 28 on Domino.

Codeine - "Median"

This Peel session from the slowcore pioneers sounds as vital today as it must have the moment they laid it down at the BBC in 1994. The band's Sub Pop back catalog is coming out again on the Numero label on June 19, and from the sounds of this track, it would be worth giving at least one of their albums a spin.

Silver Jews - "Secret Knowledge of Back Roads"

Speaking of new old music, here's one from David Berman's recently retired Silver Jews, one of the all-time go-to sources for lovably inscrutable poetry rock of the slacker indie ilk. "Early Times," a collection of some of the lowest-fi old-school Jews tracks, is coming June 19 on Drag City.
