In typically understated style, The Town Monster promotes upcoming album with 16-minute short film

From a band that previously set out (successfully) to release one EP a month for a year and produced their own animated Christmas special, I should have expected no less. The Town Monster has a flair for the dramatic, huh?

They just released this promo film - featuring a pair of music videos sandwiching some deeply David Lynch-ian weirdness - to promote their upcoming album "New Life" due out Oct. 19.

(Warning: creepy/sexy/possibly NSFW)

The opening video is for a track called "This World," a terrifyingly noisy industrial banger that reminds me in the best possible way of Ministry. After a little nightmare-inducing weirdness, there's the video for the previously released single "Bela Lugosi" - one of the most radio-ready singles I've heard come out of Columbus in a while.

The band - now a two-piece - will be celebrating the album release with a show at Skully's on Friday, Oct. 19, with Forest & the Evergreens and The George Elliot Underground.
