Concert preview: Zammuto leaves behind The Books, but just barely

After the end of The Books, his gorgeous and gleeful sound collage partnership with Paul de Jong, Nick Zammuto started an eponymous band that’s only slightly more conventional in its meld of brainy pop, electronics and found sound. Despite its disconcertingly jam-bandy cover art, last year’s self-titled debut album approaches microscopic detail with wide-eyed wonder and whimsy.

It’s also slightly peppier and more visceral than what you’d encounter in The Books’ dream space, so when Zammuto comes to the Wexner Center this Friday with opener Snowblink (not to be confused with local Southern rockers Snowblynd), it ought to be more rousing than drowsy.
