Why isn't Cheap Trick in the Hall of Fame?

Last night was the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction in Los Angeles. (I went last year when it was in Cleveland; it's an awkward beast.) One band that was not inducted, yet again, is Cheap Trick. Columbus rocker and noted Cheap Trick obsessive Colin Gawel (Watershed, Colin Gawel and the Lonely Bones) isn't having it. In an entertaining and informative screedat his website Pencil Storm, Gawel explains why Robin Zander and company deserve to be in the hall. To protest the group's continued omission, Gawel and the Lonely Bones played a free show of Cheap Trick covers in Cleveland last night. They'll reprise the performance today with an early show at Kobo. Doors open at 6 p.m., and music starts promptly at 7.
