Locals: Park Street Festival original music guide

Chris DeVille, Columbus Alive
The End of the Ocean

Although the Park Street Festival music lineup remains dominated by cover bands, there's a healthy sprinkling of original local music throughout. If you just want to get funky with your favorite hits, you can probably drift anywhere, but if you're looking for something new, let Alive be your guide.

Philip Fox Band (5 p.m. Friday, Goodale Stage)

Fox rocks easygoing country-rock tunes with the hat to match.

The Regrettes (6:15 p.m. Friday, Goodale Stage)

The city's leading retro soul revivalists continue to dominate Columbus nightlife.

Karate Coyote (7:30 p.m. Friday, Goodale Stage)

The mathy, melodic, '90s-obsessed combo is one of the city's most instantly accessible.

Fabulous Johnson Brothers (8 p.m. Friday, Vine Street Stage)

There may be no greater showmen in Columbus.

MojoFlo(8:45 p.m. Friday, Goodale Stage)

George Barrie shreds; Amber Knicole wails; everybody else thumps, blares and all-around amazes.

The Spruce Campbells (12:30 p.m. Saturday, Goodale Stage)

With band mastermind Jason Kusowski away at brewmaster school, the psych-pop sextet's set will be a rare treat.

The End of the Ocean (1:45 p.m. Saturday, Goodale Stage)

It seems safe to say these instrumental post-rockers (imagine epic, cascading movie music at eardrum-afflicting volume) will be the only band to play both Park Street and Skate Naked this year.

Bonneville (2:30 p.m. Saturday, Vine Street Stage)

Now that they're back from hiatus, these promising indie rockers can continue their rise.

Barefoot Swagger (4:15 p.m. Saturday, Goodale Stage)

Though this blues-rock combo sometimes plays cover sets, they'll be doing originals that range from folksy to funky at Park Street.

Jackie Stabb (5:30 p.m. Saturday, Goodale Stage)

Chelsea Burgin's noir pop has come a long way in a single year. It's not exactly corndog music, but it might have you crying into your beverage (in a good way).

Forest & the Evergreens (6:45 p.m. Saturday, Goodale Stage)

This "young funk" combo is unique, accessible and exceptional.

The Floorwalkers (8 p.m. Saturday, Goodale Stage)

All the broad appeal of your average cover band, but with originals as good as the hits.

Park Street Festival
