Concert preview: Ko's experimental pop music knows no bounds

Former Slothpop singer Kristin Newborn, otherwise known as Ko, teams with fellow Indianapolis resident Todd Heaton to make music that embodies 2013’s blurred genre lines. From manipulated samples to menacing guitar-drums slow-build to a cappella “Stand By Me” covers, the only boundary on Ko’s experimental pop music seems to be the duo’s imaginations.

Their music together often feels like a sketch, but that might just be because most of their recordings on SoundCloud are demos. Hearing them flesh that stuff out Thursday at Rumba ought to be quite pleasant. Way Yes and Nick Tolford (solo) open the show.
