Concert preview: San Cisco might be junk food music, but it hits the spot

San Cisco hails from Down Under, but they’re a little bit Up With People. The pop-rockers crib from the lighter side of alt-rock, the stuff that sometimes gets derided as mere lifestyle music.

And it’s true, the guy-girl duets and cutesy videos and bright, smiling faces are the embodiment of indie-lite empty calories. But sometimes a little junk food hits the spot.

The group played CD102.5 Day at the LC last spring. Friday, they return to play a significantly smaller stage in the same complex, The Basement. Small Pools opens the show.
