Concert preview: Wampire lives up to Portland stereotype, but that isn't so bad

Wampire is from Portland, and debut album Curiosity’s cover makes the duo look like exactly the sort of pretentious art-pseuds you’d expect to find in a “Portlandia” sketch.

The music doesn’t dispel that notion, but that isn’t so bad. Curiosity’s production is crisp and its songs are growers with plenty of layers to peel back. If you’re into Wampire’s local buddies Unknown Mortal Orchestra and STRFKR, you might have room in your heart for another batch of psychedelic indie pop ditties.

Wampire plays Double Happiness this Saturday, which is exactly the right venue for this band.
