Independents' Day announced its lineup, and it rules
Independents' Day, the Downtown music, arts and culture festival that has been the best local event in Columbus in recent years, just announced its 2013 schedule. Judging from today's announcement, it will continue to be the city's best fest.
ID is expanding to three days, Sept. 20-22, with a Friday night kickoff topped by Nina West and a Sunday morning brunch bookending Saturday's festivities. Speaking of Saturday, it features the finest indie-rock-centric lineup of Columbus musicians I've ever seen, though there's a noticeable absence of hip-hop and metal, both of which have been featured at this fest before. Hard to complain about this collection of bands, though: New Bomb Turks and Lydia Loveless co-headline, along with appearances by Nick Tolford & Company, Connections, Cadaver Dogs, The Regrettes, Washington Beach Bums, Nervosas, The Girls!, WVWhite, Bummers, Way Yes, the original lineup of Karate Coyote, The Whiles, Sleep Fleet, Counterfeit Madison, This Is My Suitcase and many more.
