Local folkies Saintseneca offer a first taste of Dark Arc

Local favorites Saintseneca, who signed to Anti Records earlier this summer, recently posted the new song "Uppercutter" to the web.

Though its pugilistic title suggests the artful folkies are about to come out swinging, the well-crafted tune, which doubles as the lead single off the crew's forthcoming full-length Dark Arc (out March 11), is surprisingly low-key.

"I for one will not be sung to sleep," sings frontman Zac Little near the song's midpoint, even as his fellow musicians craft a gorgeous musical backdrop of tinkling piano, hushed vocal harmonies and acoustic strumming that comes on like the woozy soundtrack to a waking dream.

The song gets its official release on Oct. 15 both digitally and on 7" vinyl, but you can stream the tune right now over at the Anti Records SoundCloud page by clicking here.

Also, if you like what you hear (and, really, how could you not?), don't miss the still-rising band when it visits Ace of Cups for its next local concert on Thursday, Nov. 7. Odds are it'll be playing much bigger venues by the time spring rolls around.
