Concert preview: Big Freedia wants to teach Miley - and probably you - how to properly twerk

Andy Downing, Columbus Alive

Is some respects, we have New Orleans bounce music diva Big Freedia to thank (or blame, depending how you look at it) for Miley Cyrus' twerking display on the MTV Video Music Awards.

Freedia, born Freddie Ross, helped popularize bounce, a kinetic music form that relies on simplistic, chanted vocals (sample lyric: "I got that gin in my system/Somebody gonna be my victim") and is frequently accompanied by ample rump-shaking. In that regard, Freedia's concerts can double as master classes in the dance form, and he's already invited the high-profile star to attend. "Just get me and Miley together," he recently told Fuse TV, "So I could give her ass some lessons."

Here's betting he'll dole out dance tips for even the average concert goer when he takes over A&R on Friday, Oct. 25.
