Concert preview: Perfect Pussy provokes with both its name and its explosive rock sound
It’s probably wise to exercise caution when performing an internet search on Syracuse rockers Perfect Pussy — particularly if you’re on the clock.
The band’s propensity for provocation extends from its name to its explosive garage-punk sound. On the opening cut off its debut EP, I Have Lost All Desire forFeeling, frontwoman Meredith Graves growls her way through an X-rated scene that comes on like a teaser for Lars Von Trier’s “Nymphomaniac.” Of course, it’s impossible to tell this listening to the song because the entire track sounds like it’s being run note-by-note through a busted garbage disposal (the lyrics are posted in full on the group’s BandCamp site for those curious). Considering a bulk of the tunes here appear to deal with catharsis this seems like a fitting approach. After all, how is it at all possible to hold back when you’ve got so much inside to get out?
