FOR MAXIMUM FUN: Editor's picks for this weekend
As I write this, the snow has let up just enough to convince me I'm going out tonight. Might simply be for a beer, but I'm leaving the house one way or another. Good news is, I've got options. As always, here's how I'd spend my weekend if I could be everywhere all the time.
FRIDAY
Jesse Henry, Poe's Run
Is artisanal soda pop Columbus' next craft scene set to take off? I don't know, but I've been intrigued by Rambling House since learning about them some time ago. That interest intensified this week when I saw their ad in our paper and noticed the Hudson Street establishment is also serving cocktails and beer and showing concerts that lean toward the Americana/bluegrass/folk spectrum. I like all those things, so I'm fixin' to finally check out this South Clintonville soda pop shop Friday.
Monster Jam
The Pinkertones
SATURDAY
The Pinkertones
I'm not, as Alive writer Andy Downing suggested most Weezer fans to be, either a Pinkerton or Blue Album kind-of-guy. I prefer both, even if that unsettling feeling I got when I first heard Pinkerton way back in the fall of 1996 still sticks with me today. If you're like me in that regard, you can't go wrong attending either Friday or Saturday's performances (or both). The local Weezer cover band will play both albums this weekend, with each night's performances decided by a coin flip.
Monster Jam
The Relentless Mules
Skully's Gallery Hop Dance Party
Short North Gallery Hop
SUNDAY
Sample Seventh Son's new bottled beer
I've been eyeing these beautiful bottles since first setting eyes on them at Lucky's in Clintonville. This weekend, they will be mine.
