Concert preview: Blackberry Smoke at the Newport

Press photos of the Atlanta crew could pass for stock images that pop up when you search the term “legalize it.”

But while the band’s name and appearance might suggest a more, ahem, chilled out sound, Blackberry Smoke actually conjures images of Lynyrd Skynyrd on its 2012 album The Whippoorwill, gliding through an assortment of Southern rock stompers (“Crimson Moon”), country-tinged ballads (“One Horse Town”) and bluesy boogies (“Lucky Seven”).
