Concert preview: Chris Forsyth and the Solar Motel Band set to scorch Café Bourbon Street

Andy Downing, Columbus Alive

Though it's the dead of winter, guitarist Chris Forsyth and the Solar Motel Band ought to leave Café Bourbon Street feeling like a sun-scorched desert wasteland.

On last year's Solar Motel, the musician, whose playing style suggests Television's Tom Verlaine recast as a desert ambler, constructed a four-part, psych-rock symphony that could double as an alternate soundtrack to that time Homer Simpson ate a Guatemalan Insanity Pepper and spent an evening hallucinating about pyramids and talking coyotes.

Mosses & the Ipps open the show.
