Over the course of his insanely varied, decades-spanning career, the globetrotting, cross-cultural musician has arranged and performed Czech classical music, flirted with 1930s Chinese pop (The Edge of Heaven) and collaborated with singer Dean Bowman on a “spiritual roots” recording that attempted to pinpoint common ground between Hebrew and African-American blues.

Now, as part of the Wexner Center’s ongoing “Via Brasil” exhibit, Lucas will perform an original soundtrack he composed for the 1967 Brazilian cult horror classic “Esta noite encarnarei no teu cadaver,” or “This Night I Will Possess Your Corpe,” by director and star Jose Mojica Marins (aka Coffin Joe).

Lucas will present his score live during a screening of the film, and his atmospheric, haunting fretwork should provide a welcome contrast to the macabre, sometimes graphic on-screen imagery.
