Concert preview: Young the Giant supply sounds of spring with Mind Over Matter

Andy Downing, Columbus Alive

With winter finally starting to loosen its grip, the California crew's visit appears to be well-timed.

Much of the band's sophomore album, Mind Over Matter, sounds engineered to blare from the stage at outdoor festivals, and while we're not quite there yet (damn you, Midwestern weather), songs like "Anagram" and the synth-driven "Crystallized" should at least spark some optimism sunnier days are near. This LC stop will be the biggest Columbus date yet for the spirited quintet, which played a far more intimate gig at Brothers Drake Meadery last November.

Vance Joy opens the show.
