Staff pick: Walking Shapes start to take form

Brooklyn quintet Walking Shapes formed late in 2012, released its debut LP, Mixtape Vol. 1, last summer, and toured incessantly through the New Year.

Even so, the group shows no sign of slowing down. The indie-rock crew, which incorporates a heavy rhythmic element into its music (there’s a reason the likes of Japanster and Mike Irish remixed tracks off Mixtape), recently premiered the video for “Woah Tiger,” the first song off its forthcoming “visual album” Taka Come On.

In a press release, the band described the album as a “fierce and eclectic ode to New York City,” and there’s undoubtedly a manic, restless feel to “Tiger” that mimics the rush of big city living. Narrow Arrow and Lushes open the show.
