Concert preview: Slackers have a new soundtrack courtesy of Minneapolis rockers Howler

Andy Downing, Columbus Alive

America's slackers have a new soundtrack courtesy of Minneapolis' damaged scuzz-rockers Howler.

On "Al's Corral," the opening salvo off the band's most recent effort, World of Joy, frontman Jordan Gatesmith holes up on his couch knocking back cheap gin 'cause he "don't have a lot of places to be." The rest of the album projects a similarly rumpled, unrushed quality (dollars to doughnuts these dudes don't own a single steam iron between the lot of 'em.)

Sega Genocide and WV White open the show.
