On Chad VanGaalen’s fifth album, Shrink Dust (Sub Pop), the Canadian musician returns to the acid-fried folk of his earliest efforts, marrying increasingly hallucinogenic lyrics (“Cut off both my hands and threw them in the sand/ Watch them swim away from me like a pair of bloody crabs," goes one tune) to a rickety musical backdrop that imagines what the Flying Burrito Brothers might have sounded like had they been weaned exclusively on The 13th Floor Elevators.

Cousins and Bry Webb open the show.
