Concert preview: Dizzy Wright sets aside the bong for State of Mind

The Las Vegas rapper, here to make up for a postponed May concert, has embraced a more mature mindset on recent efforts, even boasting he “picked up the yoga, put down the soda” on his State of Mind EP, which sounds like advice Gwyneth Paltrow might give rather than the utterings of the bong-loving MC behind “Local Weed Man” and “I Guess I’ll Smoke.”

In a May interview, Wright attributed his growth to fatherhood (“I gotta be able to do for my daughter,” he said), and it’ll be interesting to see what shapes his music takes moving forward.

Young Faith, Ron E. Polo, Crown Clique, Anthony B and more open the show.
