Jamaican reggae singer Beres Hammond is such a legend in his homeland that a video editorial by one of the country’s news organizations noted anyone unfamiliar with his name should be in “a retirement with no sound and no light,” which … wow.

While he’s a far-less recognizable presence on the global stage, this says nothing about the quality of his music, which has remained consistently excellent through the decades. For a primer, check out the career-best One Love, One Life, a double-disc set split between romantic (One Love) and more socially aware (One Life) tunes.

Hammond performs alongside his band the Harmony House Family, and DJ Inferno and Roots High Power open the show.
