Frog Eyes self-released its last album, Carey’s Cold Spring, in the fall of 2013, and then put off any subsequent tours as frontman Carey Mercer underwent treatment for throat cancer.

In a recent interview with the Times Colonist the singer noted his condition is much improved — “No doctor has used the word remission, but I’m in good health,” he said — and circumstances should bring out the celebratory best in the idiosyncratic indie-rockers.

It’s just the latest in a series of challenging circumstances the musicians have overcome, beginning with the passing of Mercer’s father, whose death inspired some of the more introspective moments on Cold Spring.

PS I Love You co-headlines, and Surfer also performs.
