Concert preview: Karl Hendricks Benefit to rally behind Pittsburgh music scene vet

Karl Hendricks might make his home in Pittsburgh — he runs Sound Cat Records there and maintains the city as the base for his band The Karl Hendricks Trio — but he’s got strong ties to the local music scene.

After Hendricks was diagnosed with oral cancer, the Columbus community rallied, assembling a benefit concert to help defray his rapidly mounting medical bills. And what a concert, too. The heavyweight lineup includes Marcy Mays (Scrawl), Sue Harshe (Scrawl, Ft. Shame), Andy Cohen (Silkworm, Bottomless Pit), Mint Mile (aka Tim Midyett of Silkworm, Bottomless Pit), Kyle Sowash (The Kyle Sowashes), Lizard McGee (Earwig), Ron House (Thomas Jefferson Slave Apartments, Counter Intuits) and Lou Poster (Grafton, Drift Mouth), and there’s a suggested donation of $7 at the door.
