The Jersey rockers might perform as a trio, but its sound hinges on pint-size singer/guitarist Marissa Paternoster, an obscenely skilled musician who makes her instrument sound larger than life, strangling out riffs that alternately howl, gnash, snarl and moan.

Screaming Female’s latest, Ugly, released in 2012, is a thing of beauty, piling on hook-laden body blows (the infectious “Rotten Apple”) and sneering cuts like “It All Means Nothing,” a crushing-yet-catchy burner where the frontwoman unleashes an assortment of finger-cramping guitar pyrotechnics.

Vacation and Pujol open the show.
