Concert preview: Canadian country-soul quartet the Bros. Landreth sticks to smooth waters

Andy Downing, Columbus Alive

The Canadian quartet, anchored by brothers Joey and Dave Landreth (hence the name), specializes in a brand of country-soul as smooth as rainwater rolling down a windshield.

Songs like "Made Up Mind" and "I Am the Fool" stir little in the way in turbulence, even when the band's words suggest some great emotional upheaval. "It always ends on a bad note," sings Joey atop gorgeous harmonies that, in spite of his words, continue coloring safely inside the lines. Hopefully the musicians won't hold back from allowing their hair to be a bit more tousled in concert.
