Concert Preview: Cold War Kids still plugging away a decade on

The Long Beach indie-rock crew has a ways to go to eclipse the runtime of the actual Cold War, which extended well past 40 years. But now a decade into its existence, the Nathan Willett-led five-piece has already outlasted many of its contemporaries. It makes some sense, too, since the band’s earliest albums were filled with rowdy, piano-driven character studies that felt somehow out of time. Recent albums have played it comparatively straight however, including last year’s wheel-spinning Hold My Home.
