Editor's picks: 22 things to do this weekend

Staff Writer
Columbus Alive

The paucity of January concerts is over. This weekend presents like a metric-ton of options, from Jack White to local band showcases (like our own Bands to Watch). As always, here's what I'd do this weekend if I could be everywhere all the time.

Columbus Winter Beerfest at Greater Columbus Convention Center

My personal preference is to hit up Beerfest on a Friday. The crowds are smaller and, duh, way less obnoxious/drunk. You can get in and out of lines in a fraction of the time, too.

Shooter Jennings at Park Street Saloon

Brat Curse, Good English, Sega Genocide, Day Creeper at Spacebar

Jordan O' Jordan, Sweet Teeth, Counterfeit Madison, Josh Quinn at Rumba Cafe

Lil Debbie at Skully's Music-Diner

"Psycho Beach Party" at The Garden Theater

Ethel's bar at The Garden Theater

"Neon Dreams" at Glass Axis

Learn about the impact of Japanese baseball on the local economy at Huntington Park

Alive's 2015 Bands to Watch, feat. Damn the Witch Siren, Dominique Larue, EYE, All Dogs and The Sidekicks at Skully's Music-Diner

Five of the raddest musicians in the city playing a free showcase? Take my money anyway.

Showcats all-breed championship cat show at Greater Columbus Convention Center

Sorry, Columbus. I've failed you. This should have been our cover this week.

Dude Locker Chili Cookoff with One Point Three, Southern State, Raw Pony, Mama, Hookers Made Out of Cocaine and more at the Dude Locker

The Pinkertones cover Weezer's first two albums at Ace of Cups

Wonderball at Columbus Museum of Art

Jack White at Schottenstein Center

Oscar Shorts at Gateway Film Center

Columbus Winter Beerfest at Greater Columbus Convention Center

Celebrate Mozart's Bakery & Piano Cafe's 20th anniversary

"The Man in the High Castle" on Amazon Prime

The world needs more Philip K. Dick adaptations, and while I'm slightly suspicious of this one, it has nothing to do with the source material ("The Man in the High Castle" happens to be my personal favorite PKD book).

Winter Flea at Strongwater Food & Spirits

"A Most Violent Year" at a movie theater

"Two Days, One Night" at the Gateway Film Center
