Concert preview: Maroon 5 continues its chameleonic ways on V

Ten years after nabbing a Best New Artist Grammy, Adam Levine and Co. are still at it. From the get-go, the radio-groomed Los Angeles rockers have exhibited chameleonic tendencies, continually and opportunistically shifting their sound to match the trends with an efficiency bordering on ruthless.

It’s an approach that carried over into last year’s market-tested V, which borrowed moves from the likes of Bruno Mars (the soul-stoked “Sugar”) and Fun (the soaring “Leaving California”) rather than Jagger. Regardless, “Voice” judge/personality Levine has an undeniable charisma that imbues some swagger into even the band’s most by-the-number tunes.

Magic! And Rozzi Crane open the show.
