Before Lydia Loveless hits the big screen, she’ll make a return to the stage, leading her band through a set at the Columbus Athenaeum on Saturday, April 4.

In January, filmmaker Gorman Bechard, who previously directed rock-docs on the Replacements (“Color Me Obsessed”) and Archers of Loaf (“What Did You Expect?”), launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund a documentary on the local singer-songwriter (working title: “Who Is Lydia Loveless?”), raising in excess of $33,000 to fund the project, which should begin shooting this year.

The film promises to offer a revealing behind-the-scenes look at the recording of Loveless’ fourth full-length album, which she started sketching out during some recent downtime. Indeed, with a little luck, maybe the musician will even treat Columbus to a new song or two here, though it wouldn’t surprise if she held off until more substantial sessions take place sometime following this spring tour, which is scheduled to last through late May.

Red Wanting Blue headlines the show.
