Concert preview: Curren$y lives up to his dollar sign-dotted name on high life loving tunes
The New Orleans rapper’s stock has climbed almost as steadily as the U.S. dollar in recent years, owning at least in part to a sharp trio of Pilot Talk mixtapes, the latest of which, Pilot Talk III, surfaced earlier in 2015.
Throughout, the MC boasts of creature comforts closely aligned with his dollar sign-dotted stage name — comforts that stretch from breakfast (he starts his morning with cranberry crepes on “Long As the Lord Say”) to after-dinner desert (he orders up Baked Alaska on the swaggering, soul-flecked “Get Down”). It’s to Curren$y’s credit that his verses remain relatable even though his bank account clearly isn’t.
G. Finesse opens the show.
