Staff Pick: Alive summer concert set to blot out the sun

Andy Downing, Columbus Alive

Now that the sun has finally made its presence known, it's time to blot it out with the Alive summer concert.

This year's free event, which takes place rain or shine on Friday, May 22, features performances from dark, cult-ish electronic duo roeVy, the cryptic Druid Cloak, whose dreamy soundscapes often feel conjured rather than recorded in-studio, and Funerals, whose shadowy, pulsating output could soundtrack any goth-rock dance party.

The onstage action kicks off at Columbus Commons at 7 p.m., but be sure to arrive early since a host of taco trucks will start dishing up eats at 5 p.m.
