For years, one common complaint within the local music scene revolved around the city's lack of a large-scale music festival.

Now it feels like a new event is launched every week.

Earlier this year, PromoWest announced the inaugural PromoWest Fest, which is set to take place in the Arena District July 15-17, and the Fashion Meets Music Festival is scheduled to return for its third go-round over Labor Day weekend.

Today music fans can add yet another multiday event to the calendar: Breakaway Music Festival, which is set to take place at the Ohio Expo Center on Aug. 26 and 27.

Breakaway premiered in 2013 at Crew Stadium (now Mapre Stadium) with a diverse lineup highlighted by Kendrick Lamar, Twenty One Pilots and Porter Robison - artists whose profiles have skyrocketed in subsequent years (read our hour-by-hour account of the event by clicking here). After two years away, the event is geared up for a return.

"I'm excited for the opportunity to bring Breakaway to a new venue for a larger-than-life experience fans can immerse themselves in," said Adam Lynn, co-founder of Prime Social Group, in a press release.

A lineup announcement is expected in the coming weeks, and early bird ticket sales begin Friday, May 6 at 10 a.m.
